Kumari is an Australian lifestyle brand inspired by those who live between countries, cultures and conversations. Rooted in Sri Lanka and reaching far beyond, Kumari celebrates multicultural identity, slow design, and intentional storytelling.
“Kumari” means princess. The name reflects strength, grace, and presence. Kumari is about how you arrive, how you remember where you came from and how you take up space in the world — fully seen and unapologetically yourself.
Founded by Ranjula Herath, Kumari is more than a lifestyle brand. It is a love letter to migrants, travellers, and dreamers who live between worlds inspired by design. After moving from Sri Lanka to Melbourne, Ranjula experienced the beauty and complexity of holding two identities at once. Kumari was born from that feeling.

Our Products & Craft
Kumari’s products are created using one of Sri Lanka’s most enduring traditional crafts — batik textile making. Each piece is handmade using cotton fabric, natural beeswax and hand-dyeing techniques.
Because every item is dyed by hand, no two pieces are ever exactly the same. A slight change in brushstroke or shade makes each creation unique. This is the beauty of true craftsmanship — imperfect, intentional, and entirely one of a kind.
